Curriculum
We believe play is the work of childhood—and the foundation for a lifetime of learning.
At Treasureland Preschool, play is more than fun—it’s the foundation of how children learn best. Our teachers design purposeful, engaging experiences that nurture curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Every activity, from block building to dramatic play, connects to and is informed by the Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines, ensuring that each child’s growth in social-emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development is intentionally supported.
Our classrooms are alive with joyful exploration. You might see children mixing colors at the art table, building bridges in the block corner, or caring for a pretend baby in dramatic play. What looks like simple play is actually carefully guided learning—teachers observe, ask questions, and extend ideas to help children make connections and build understanding.
At the heart of it all are relationships. We know that children learn best when they feel safe, seen, and valued. Trusting, caring relationships between teachers and children create the foundation for curiosity and confidence to grow. When children know they belong, they’re more willing to take risks, explore new ideas, and engage deeply in learning.
This approach is often described through philosophies such as emergent curriculum, investigative play, the Project Approach, or Reggio Emilia—each emphasizing that children learn best through experiences that are meaningful to them.
